Skye-based plein-air painter David Deamer will be out somewhere whatever the weather, chasing the light with his oil paints and easel. His aim is to pin down the light, which means working fast, with paintings started and finished on location in one session. David grew up in Surrey and Skye (his father lived in Uig). A few years ago David left the rolling hills and canals down south permanently for the rugged splendours of Skye. At more popular spots, such as the old bridge at Sligachan, you’ll likely find him amidst an admiring audience (many paintings are sold “off easel” before they are even finished!). At more remote spots, it’ll just be David and the landscape
